The impressionist Hans Reinhold Lichtenberger came to Munich in 1897 after a short architectural study to become skilled in painting. Four years later, his female portraits and nudes are already admitted to the exhibitions of the Münchner and Berliner Secession. This is followed by a successful artistic career in Munich. Lichtenberger was a painter of the big city. The fashionable nightlife, the circus, the theater, the restaurants and dancers on stage were his main themes.
